I had been running on fumes from 6am to 8pm, glued to Slack, making good money doing work that did not matter to me, and my hair was falling out from the stress. Then a corgi named Winnie ran up to me in Palisades Park and that was the moment I knew.
I filed the LLC walking down Abbot Kinney on March 9, 2023, taught myself bookkeeping and contracts and how to hire and fire and manage a team, and built Betches Walking Betches into a 13 person company serving 150 families across west LA. We did $113,000 in the first 18 months, bootstrapped, with no funding and no debt.
In 2025 I moved to the other side of the world, and I have run the whole company from 9,000 miles away ever since. So when I talk about leaving a career you were supposed to want, or building something with no idea what you are doing, or leading people you cannot sit in a room with, I am talking about things I actually did.
